Quaking with Excitement: The Ford Maverick Tremor

Adding to the versatile capability of the new Maverick is an add-on package already available in Ford's larger trucks - the Tremor package. The Tremor package is available on the XLT or Lariat trims of the Ford Maverick equipped with the 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine (an inline-four cylinder engine). Ford has called the Ford Maverick Tremor "an entry-level option for buyers seeking greater off-road capability and bold styling." Adding this package truly makes the Ford Maverick an optimal off-road truck.

Performance

Only Ford Mavericks with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline-four-cylinder engine may add the Tremor package. This motor offers up to 250 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. Also, the front-wheel drive Mavericks are incompatible with the Tremor package, so the Maverick Tremor will come with all-wheel drive.

The Ford Maverick Tremor also gets an off-road-tuned suspension and expanded ride height to increase off-road capability. Specifically, the Ford Maverick with the Tremor package includes a one-inch lift kit, upgraded front and rear shocks, and upgraded springs. The Tremor package also adds a unique front bumper; this will change the approach angle of the Maverick. Steel skid plates are a part of the Tremor package as well. Ford has added cooling units to the transmission and power-transfer unit and the radiator as well.

The Tremor package offers an additional five drive modes to the Ford Maverick. Off-road enthusiasts will enjoy the Trail Control mode, which Ford describes as "off-road cruise control." The drive mode will allow drivers to set the speed and then focus on steering; the truck will control the throttle and braking to maintain velocity in tricky off-road situations.

Exterior

The Maverick Tremor is distinct in its signature orange accents across the truck's exterior. Orange can be spied on tow hooks, the wheels, the grille, and fender vents. The bedside logo is also in Tremor Orange.

Drivers in Spring may also add the Tremor Appearance package; this adds a carbonized gray roof and mirror caps. Black graphics will be visible on the hood and lower body. Drivers may also choose Avalanche Gray as an exterior color for the Tremor package.

Interior

The seats are colored in Black Onyx, and orange Tremor logos are stitched into the upholstery. Because the Tremor package is only available on the XLT or Lariat trims of the Maverick, drivers can expect upgraded interior features, including a larger touchscreen monitor with which to access the infotainment system and upgraded stereo systems.

Technology

The Ford Maverick Tremor will offer an infotainment system with access to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto software. Drivers may pair their smartphones with this software for many voice-activated commands, including accessing one's contacts via the system to send a (voice-activated) text or make a phone call. On the Lariat trim, Sync 3 is the available infotainment system. All Ford Maverick Tremors come with a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Safety

The Ford Maverick Tremor will have access to driver-assist features that are a part of the Ford CoPilot360 safety system. This included Adaptive Cruise Control, lane centering, and evasive steering assist. Automatic high beams are also standard in the safety features of the Ford Maverick Tremor. Plus, a rearview camera and post-collision braking are standard in the Ford Maverick Tremor.
